You're making memories that will last a lifetime for those kids. Thats the plan, damn the torpedoes! Thanks Adamah!
Lisa- Now that would be memorable. Colorado is a beautiful place all year round, but especially here in the winter. We've had snow off and on here near Boulder, but its been melting too fast. No white Christmas, but it was still a great one.

New here
by winnie12 inhey i'm new here, i've been reading up so much here and on other sites about tatt and it has really settled a nagging feeling of doubt within me.
truly i have been lied to and have been trapped in this cult.
i've been suffering with depression, anxiety, attempted suicide, hospitalization, anti depressants, loneliness all this while being in supposedly surrounded by "the happiest people" on earth.

Wow, I can really relate to most of what you wrote. It was devastating for me when I first left. Stick around. There is a lot of pain shared on this board, but there is ever more joy in truly finding the “truth” and being set free from the borg.

I didn’t drop any major bombs on my mom and sister. They wouldn’t have listened if I did and knowing them like I do – if I had, they probably wouldn’t talk to me anymore bec of my apostate views. All they know is that I no longer believe and stopped attending. I visited them for the first time in September since I left. Not a single word was asked as to why I left. They probably feel it is better not knowing so they aren’t “stumbled.” I hope you made the right choice in telling them the way you did… Good luck with everything.

JW CHILDREN GET PRESENTS ALL THROUGH THE YEAR. REALLY?????
by NAVYTOWN inis it really true that jw children get gifts 'all through the year', not just for christmas and birthdays like non- jw kids?
as stingy as most jws are, i find that very hard to believe.
plus the childhood magic of christmas and birthdays is totally absent in jw households.

“Jehovah’s Witnesses give presents all year round.” Yup, I made the same proclamation for years to try and sound normal to others not “in.” 2 times growing up, we had kid’s parties. Those 2 times were really special and memorable for me because it only happened twice. We were really poor when I grew up. I would get toys but most of the time it was from yard sales and thrift shops. Same with my clothes. My mom did the best she could with what she had. But man do I hate the fact that I used the same lie once I grew up as I heard when I was growing up.
My wife and I along with her family and one other family from the hall had “family gift night” but it only lasted 1 year. We planed on doing it every year but it didn’t last.

Christmas is WRONG!
by thesaint inyou all should be ashamed of your egotistical selves.
how can you leave god's organization to celebrate the work of satan the devil?
it just goes to show you how jehovah's christian witnesses are correct about how persons will leave the truth for their own selfish desires.. first off, christmas is a pagan holiday and it proves no spirit with the almighty jehovah and his son, the christ.

What a great day! This was our first time celebrating Christmas. Last night before bed time we opened our stockings that were hanging over the fireplace.
Once the kids were in bed, I set up my daughter’s new kitchen play set – took me a little over 2 hours but was fun. We also put all the presents under the tree.
This morning we came down stairs and the joy on my kids faces and the “Wow!” expressions was awesome when they saw the presents. We opened our gifts and Mrs. Dazed made a big breakfast.
We played with the new toys until we left for my sister and brother-in-law’s house for Christmas dinner. We had turkey, ham and all the trimmings. My brother-in-law’s family get together every Christmas for dinner and gift exchanges. We also brought a gift for “white elephant” where we all exchanged gifts during the game. It was fun.
I feel I missed out on a lot growing up in this cult. It will not be so for my kids thankfully. No longer hung up on “can’t celebrate that because of its origins.”
MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Here’s to a great 2014!
